single movie only please 3 out of 5 stars.
why are they only releasing the boxset of the matrix onto blu-rayas a trillogy? (to my knowledge). i would really like to buy the original 'the matrix' on blu ray but refuse to pay for the other two since i found them to be an unbelievably boring cash in on the success of the first film. i would rate the original film as 5*, but 0 for the other two.

Blu ray at its best 5 out of 5 stars.
Firstly, this boxed set comprises the three movies individually cased in standard blu ray cases in a slightly sturdy cardboard sleeve with a nice metallic green effect. That may come as a relief to owners of other boxed DVD sets etc where the cardboard lasts as long as cereal packets. All three movies are presented in letterbox widescreen transfers. Languages present are English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portugese , with Dutch only as subtitles. There is no region B coding marked on either the sleeve or individual cases so they are probably region-free.

The only other thing you really need to know about this trilogy release is that the HD picture and audio transfers are just fantastic. The Matrix has been remastered and is now of equal transfer quality to the sequels. With all the CGI and wire/rig work involved in the making of the films and the fact that many of the scenes involve subdued or darker colour schemes, it's quite astounding that the vibrant HD tranfers look as great as they do. It's hard to pick out particular segments that showcase the BDs, but the helicopter rescue scene (Matrix), freeway sequence (Reloaded) and several city siege scenes in Matrix Revolutions are pretty astounding in HD and you will find yourself engrossed in detail spotting first watch round (including some unforgiving facial close ups!) and also hearing crystal clear sounds that may have passed you by on the cinema and DVD releases. All three features are loaded with extras and make full use of full-length PIP (picture in picture) commentaries. The wealth of added features and functionality does mean that the discs do have a slightly longer loading time than the average BD, but its a small price to pay.

A faultless and superb addition to anyone's BD collection and a must-have for fans of the trilogy. You might want to offload your DVD versions pronto.

Has the glitch from the US set been corrected? 1 out of 5 stars.
Not a review as such, just a small query. The US Matrix had a problem with missing frames on the Revolutions disc, possibly due to an issue with the master. Has this been sorted for the UK release? I have the HD DVD set, a bit reluctant to double-dip again. And yes, as another gent has mentioned, WHERE'S OUR ULTIMATE SET?!! Good ol' Warner Bros., eh?

Re: Subtitles??? 5 out of 5 stars.
Hi Ros,

The American 6 disc version has the following soundtracks:
English-Portuguese-Spanish-Italian-French.
Subtitles:
English-French-Spanish-Dutch(lucky me)-Italian-Portuguese.

The 3-disc UK version has English sound & subtitling only.

Thought I'd let you know, as I know that many Croatians are good at Italian!
If not, don't fret, I'm sure there'll be a multi language Euro version next year...
